Site Updates
Wednesday, 23rd December 2020 :

For the first time in over twelve years, an update!

What has motivated this, you may ask? Did I get insanely bored during lockdown? No, that's not it (though that has been pretty bad :P ). Instead, it's because I've been clearing out my PhotoBucket account, in preparation for deleting it. However, I didn't to break my very old images on this site - so, I've re-hosted those on Tripod itself, and edited several pages accordingly.

While I was at it, I also brought the Champions list up to date (adding Magnus Carlsen), and cleared out the webmaster page (because most of the information on there was insanely out of date).

Merry Christmas, everybody. See you in another twelve years... maybe!
Thursday, 14th May 2008 :

As suggested by FathomFireExtinguisher, I've now added the discovered attack tutorial to the website; this is an improved version of an older one from the forum.

I also have an endgames quiz in the works, once I've improved the results screen.
Sunday, 17th February 2008 :

Several updates: firstly, I've added a few more terms, and overhauled the Terms section completely. I've also added some more affiliates to the Affiliates page, including my new blog. Finally, I've added Anand to the Champions list, and corrected an error in the Classical Champions list.
Tuesday, 7th August 2007 :

I've made further additions to the Terms page, as well as improving the Champions list.
Friday, 13th July 2007 :

It's Friday 13th!, so don't be surprised if the Terms page doesn't load. It'll be a shame if it doesn't, as I've updated it!
Wednesday, 4th July 2007 :

Happy Independence Day to all American readers! To celebrate, I've added a tutorial on the pin and skewer.
Saturday, 23rd June 2007 :

It's another of my sporadic updates! I've begun to improve the three quizzes, and will do a bit more work on them.
Friday, 11th May 2007 :

Wow - you'd be forgiven for thinking I'd died seeing as it's been so long since the last update! So, I apologize to all who had been dancing on my grave, but the celebration's over.

So, where have I been? Well, I've been increasingly busy over the past few months, with various commitments such as coursework and revision, so I just haven't had the time to update this place. However, I should be able to find some time soon at the very least, in which I'll be improving this website - more details following soon (promise!).
Thursday, 10th August 2006 :

I've now fixed the images problem that was bugging everyone and put some revised images on - thanks to Candyguitar for creating them.
Thursday, 27th July 2006 :

Nothing much - I've updated the link to TPSON.
Tuesday, 6th June 2006 (06/06/06!) :

I've corrdcted a few bullet points on the site map.
Saturday, 27th May 2006 :

I was bored, so I made the site map. This contains links to every other page on the site.

I've also added Quiz 3, which is harder then either of the other two, so you'd best be prepared!

Oh, and we should celebrate the birthday of forum member Michael, who's 15 today!
Tuesday, 23rd May 2006 :

I've now started work on the Chess Tactics section, with a tutorial about the fork.
Sunday, 7th May 2006 :

The TPSON affiliate icon now links to the site that it's advertising, and I've done a slight amount of work on the Chess Tactics section.
Friday, 5th May 2006 :

Two minor updates: TPSON now has an affiliate icon, and I've modified some of the JavaScript.
Wednesday, 3rd May 2006 :

I've found out that I'll need to use PHP to improve the quizzes, so I'm calling that off for the moment, although I may move hosts in the future. We also have a new affiliate: The Peleton's Site of Nonsense/Nothingness. They linked to me, so I decided that it'd only be fair to link back to them.
Tuesday, 4th April 2006 :

Before I work on the tactics, I've got to improve the quizzes. At the moment, when you press the 'Submit' button, you get an alert telling you your score, whereas in the revised quizzes, you'll be told which answers were correct/incorrect! I've also made a few minor improvements to the How to play chess, Terms and Problems sections, as well as making a couple of minor adjustments to Quiz 2. You'll also see that the boxes are slightly darker, and that I've improved the lines dividing the news articles.
Monday, 3rd April 2006 :

I've fixed a few errors on the quiz, as well as updating the "The Webmaster" section with my current age. Next, I'll work on the "Chess Tactics" section!
Sunday, 5th March 2006 :

Nothing too major: there was an error on the Affiliates page (the links pointed to the wrong site); this has now been corrected. Thanks to Candyguitar for pointing it out.
Thursday, 2nd March 2006 :

Due to the snow today, I got a day off school! This has given me a chance to revamp all of the pages with the new skin and upload them! What do you think of the new skin? Please tell me on the forum.
Wednesday, 1st March 2006 :

You know, I REALLY need to update this site more often!

No updates that you can see yet, but I am now getting on with a completely new skin for the website. I'm also going to be converting the entire site to valid XHTML 1.0 transitional (at the moment, only the news page is so treated).
Monday, 29th August 2005 :

Finally, an update! I lost my FTP address, and it was only today that I got round to finding a new host! Note thet you'll have to update all bookmarks etc.
Saturday, 30th April 2005 :

The forum is temporarily down - it should be back up soon.
Wednesday, 13th April 2005 :

I've added two more chess problems: one for absolute beginners and one for people learning about tactics and combinations.
Friday, 1st April 2005 :

I've added a second quiz to the site - see how you do on it! This is a more difficult quiz than Quiz 1, so I wish you luck on it!
Friday, 25th March 2005 :

I've added a quiz to the site - see how you do on it! More quizzes will come in the near future.
Saturday, 5th March 2005 :

I've changed the background to dark blue for all pages except for the home page, as suggested by forum member Candybean. The text for each page will be a different colour.
Tuesday, 22nd February 2005 :

I've added four chess problems to the site, two for absolute beginners and two for people learning about basic tactics.
Sunday, 13th February 2005 :

More minor updates suggested by Candyguitar and a link to his site - thanks!
Tuesday, 8th February 2005 :

Matthew wanted his e-mail address on the site, so I've added it. And yes, yesterday's update had an incorrect date!

I'm currently making a re-done version of the index page, which should be online in about a week. Please tell me whether or not you like it when it's online.
Monday, 7th February 2005 :

I've added a new section on Chess Weekly, the magazine that this website was once dedicated to. The link is between Downloads and News.
Thursday, 3rd February 2005 :

You may notice a couple of minor updates around the site - Candyguitar suggested some of these. Thanks!

I've also deleted the August news, as that's getting old now (though there was only one update).
Monday, 24th January 2005 :

I've added some links to chess books (thanks to forum member Matthew Pace for this suggestion), and corrected a couple of things in the Terms section (thanks to Candyguitar for pointing these out).
Monday, 17th January 2005 :

I've corrected a typo in the Terms section, and moved the 'Well, come on in!' text up. Thanks to forum member Candyguitar for these suggestions!
Monday, 10th January 2005 :

Just a couple of minor updates to a couple of sections.
Monday, 3rd January 2005 :

I've added the Terms page, which replaces CW Issues - Chess Weekly is now well and truly Chess Resources!
Sunday, 2nd January 2005 :

I added the mouseovers yesterday, and I've also replaced the Competitors section with an Algebraic Notation guide. Hope you enjoy it!

I've also carried out a relatively minor update in the Downloads section, and deleted the June and July news, as it's no longer 'news'.
Friday, 31st December 2004(21:25) :

Well, that's nearly it for 2004 in the UK, so happy new year! I've made a version of the site with revised buttons, which can be found here. I've started a poll about this in the forum, so please tell me which buttons you prefer! (If you can't vote, then register and try again).
Friday, 31st December 2004(09:55) :

I've changed the name of the site from 'Chess Weekly' to 'Chess Resources'. To reflect this, I will be doing the following over the next few days:

OI will be replacing the CW Issues and Competitors sections.
OI will be transforming the look of the site.
OThe Jargon (Terms) page will be up shortly, replacing CW Issues.

Thursday, 30th December 2004:

The 'How to play Chess' guide is finished. I'll be expanding the site substantially over the next few days, starting with a Chess Jargon page (tomorrow, hopefully!).
Wednesday, 29th December 2004(16:45) :

I've done some major work on the 'How to play Chess' page.
Wednesday, 29th December 2004 (16:10) :

Did you have a good christmas? I hope so!

Nothing major here. I've just updated the 'Moi' page, and changed its name to 'About Us'.
Tuesday, 21st December 2004 :

Nearly christmas.... I've updated the forum AGAIN - all members should click the forum link.>
Tuesday, 7th December 2004 (21:00):

Yeah, updates are like buses, aren't they? I've added a 'Tell a friend' feature.
Tuesday, 7th December 2004 (18:00):

At last, an update!!!!

I've completely re-done the forum; you'll need your own account to post in there - just click the'Join' button and follow the instructions. I've also replaced the poll with a chess helpsheet and Chess Weekly graphics for download (you can start your own polls in the forum).

By the way, I won't be deleting this section after all.
Sunday, 3rd October 2004:

I have started attending an engineering club, so I haven't had much time to update the site. I'd also like to say that I'll be deleting this section, and moving all updates to the forum so that you can discuss them (e-mail me for the forum password).
